Hello! My name is Chrystal and I started making paper in 1996 after
                                      purch
asing a papermaking kit at a local craft store. My first batch of paper

was pretty but not quite the way I wanted it to feel. In fact, it turned out like
cardboard! I have been working on my papermaking
process since then

and I am now able to produce beautiful papers time after time. I enjoy

experimenting with different types of papers and inclusions such as glitter,

potpourri, botanicals and threads. Each sheet is unique.

I strive to keep as much paper out of the landfills as possible

by recycling paper scraps and turning them into beautiful handmade

papers. My favorite papers to use are office paper, scrapbooking paper

scraps, used  coloring books, old school work papers, school fliers, junk

mail, tissue paper and post-it notes. I have a lot of fun trying new papers

 and creating new textures.

Another technique I enjoy is making crayon papers. I think the best feature of the crayon papers
is the vibrant color. Each page is unique even when the same color combinations are used and
the texture created adds a nice dimension to the paper.
I have quite a collection of used crayons
and
I would rather see them used for crayon paper than thrown away.

When
I am not creating beautiful sheets of paper, I enjoy reading mystery novels as well as
crafting and travel magazines.
However, I have recently started listening to books while I make
paper! That way I can enjoy a good book as well as create papers.  I
also enjoy spending time
watching movies and playing video games with
my husband and daughter.

About Craft Studio Papers

Craft Studio Handmade Papers are made with used papers and scraps

that would otherwise be thrown in the garbage. I strive to keep paper out

of the landfill by giving it new life as a beautiful  piece of handmade paper.

Each sheet is unique, even though the components are the same. The

more textured papers have larger pieces of paper mixed in with the tiny

paper fibers and produce a unique sheet every time. All of the Craft Studio
Handmade Papers are Acid-Free.

No dyes are used in my papermaking process. All color is a result of the papers and paper
scraps I use. Because I use various papers donated to me from different sources, I cannot
always create exact colors from batch to batch and sheet to sheet. If you need a certain color,
please let me know and I can create a sample for you.

The Crayon Papers are made using office paper or cardstock. Whenever possible, I use paper
that has been donated to me. The crayons I use are also pieces that are no longer wanted by
their owners. Some have been donated to me, others are found at thrift stores and garage
sales. The vibrant colors of these papers are 100% crayon. Nothing has been added to make
the colors more vibrant.

I also create unique greeting cards with my handmade papers and crayon papers.

My handmade papers and crayon papers are the perfect touch of color and texture for any
project. Use them on greeting cards, gift tags, mixed media art and more! Fold a sheet of the
handmade paper in half for a quick card. My handmade papers can be written on with a
ball-point pen or fine tip marker.

The best adhesives to use with my handmade papers are glue sticks or double sided tape. Wet
glues such as white glue or decoupage medium do not work well as they will soak into the
paper. Adhesive machines also do not work well. The bond is too strong and your handmade
paper will be destroyed in the process.

The best adhesives to use with my crayon papers are strong glues, double sided tape, rubber
cement and adhesive machines. Wet glues such as white glue and decoupage medium do not
create a strong enough bond for these papers.

If you have questions about adhesives, please contact me. We will happily answer your
questions and if I do not know the answer, I will test the adhesive on my paper and inform you of
the results saving you from testing on your own paper.

Custom orders are always welcome. If you need a certain color, please contact me.
